Spring and Summer mantel decorated in yellow, black and white with lemon decor.

Spring to Summer Mantel

When I think of Spring and Summer, bright and happy colors come to my mind. You know the kind of colors that make you smile. Yellow is just one of those colors. It just makes you happy and if you’re like me, makes you think of lemons! I was enjoying a cup of cold lemonade one day thinking about my Spring to Summer mantel decor and I just knew that I wanted to have a lemon-inspired design. It incorporates all things happy and that’s exactly what I wanted for my home this year. Bright and cheerful colors are all you need to brighten up your home and transform it into a vibrant space.

One of my favorite spots to decorate in my home is the mantel in my living room. I love to change it out for all the seasons. My diy ship lap wall provides the perfect backdrop for all the seasons. Is it me or does everything just seems to look better against ship lap? 😂

I bought this chair a few years ago at the Thrift store for $5.00 and I use it often in my decor. It was perfect spot to place the lemonade pillow that I got at Hobby Lobby.

I shop around my home A LOT and try to be creative with things that I already have. Most of the items you will see here are things that I already had and recycle often. I’m a huge believer in that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to create a beautiful home.

I picked up this little glass jar and the glass candlestick holder at The Dollar Tree. I placed the jar on the candlestick and placed a few lemons in it and created a riser that looks beautiful nestled in the greenery.

Books are a great way to add height where you need it. You can find them very cheap at your local thrift stores. I grabbed 3, painted them black and white and added some ribbon around them. They were a perfect spot to place the Hello Sunshine sign that I got from the 99 Cent Store.

As you can see, I love risers!! This one was super simple to make and was made for only a few dollars! You can watch a vide here on how I made it. The cabinet door was a thrift store find that I re-purposed into this fun sign. You can see how I made it here. These simple pieces are easy and inexpensive ways to create personalized pieces of art that coordinate beautifully with the other decor.

I wanted to create a look that I was just out picking some fresh lemons off of the tree. I found an old basket and turned it on its side, added some greenery and lemons to acheive the look of fresh picked lemons spilling out of the basket. How’d I do?

To create the banner, I used these super cute lemon plates from the Dollar Tree. This is an inexpensive way to create a great pop of color and a good visual element.

Here it is in all its glory! With some imagination and a few simple diys, you can create a beautiful mantel that looks magazine worthy! No one would ever know that you didn’t spend hundreds of dollars decorating it.

  2. Nikki, your Summer lemon decor is super sweet (and that’s saying a lot for lemons)! Much like you, I use many of my basic pieces for all seasons. You do a great job of teaching others how to decorate their homes on a budget. I love your creative soul! Thanks for sharing your gift with all of us! 🍋
