Dollar Tree Hanging Basket Lamp

I get so excited when I create something and give it a whole new purpose! While strolling through the aisles of one my FAVORITE stores, I picked up a wire basket and figured that I could turn it into something cute. Well….let me tell you that’s exactly what I did! This Dollar Tree Hanging Basket Lamp turned out so darn cute.

It is SUPER EASY to make and only costs a few dollars, so that means you can make a bunch of them if you wanted to! I’ll show you how to make it with only a few easy steps.

Here is what you will need:

I first started by taking the planter hanger and looping it through the basket. It clips onto the basket very easy. You will notice as we go along that I ended up removing it, as it was getting in the way of the next steps.

PLEASE NOTE: You may have to adjust the positioning of the hanger to make sure that it is balanced.

It’s a little hard to see in the picture, but I took some wire and looped it through the top middle of the basket so that I can secure the battery pack to the basket.

I will tell you that the next time I make one, I will either glue the battery pack to the basket or use velcro or sticky tape to secure it. At the time I wasn’t thinking of having to replace the batteries! Uh… duh! Not a smart move on my part, but hey… you get to learn from my mistakes! LOL

Now on to the fairy lights!!

These are by far my FAVORITE LIGHTS to use. Why??? Well….let me tell you why! They are battery operated, with a remote and a timer and have like 7 different settings! That means you can set them and forget them. How great is that? Who wants to go out and turn lights on every night? Not this girl!

I wanted to have the lights dangling in the basket to kind of mimic a chandelier, so what I did was string them through random spots on the top and then twisted them to secure them. I know it looks like a hot mess in the picture, but I had a plan! If you would rather loop them around the outer part of the basket, that would be fine too and probably a lot easier! 😂

To make it look like a lamp shade and to hide the battery pack, I added some ribbon around the top of the basket. I used hot glue to secure it.

I used a little piece of wood and a glass knob to add a decorative element to the top. It worked perfectly to cover the battery pack. Plus… it looks like the top part of a lamp!

I added a few of my handmade fabric flowers to dress it up a little more.

I am so in love with how this Dollar Tree Hanging Basket Lamp turned out and I will definitely be making a few more of these. What do you all think? Will you be giving this a try?
