Soon the weather will be warming up and that means that it’s time to start thinking about getting the house ready for Spring. The mantel is definitely a focal point in my living room and it is a space that I love to decorate for the seasons. Spring is all about new beginnings and transformations. It symbolizes promise, birth, renewal, love and romance. These are the things that inspired me when I was thinking about how I was going to decorate my mantel this year. This Angel Inspired Vintage Mantel Decor represents all of the above to me and I am so excited to share it with you.
When I walk into the living room and see the mantel, it brings me a feeling of peace and tranquility. It’s definitely a feeling that I want in my home and want my guests to feel as they enter my home. Angels give me peace and promise of the heavens above. Pairing them with my love for vintage and rustic decor makes for the perfect combination.
Ideas on how to decorate a mantel
There are a few things that I consider when decorating my mantel. First, of course is what theme I am going to choose. The different seasons make it pretty easy to come up with something. An important element that I incorporate into my design is different elevations. What I mean by that is, incorporating risers. You can use anything to elevate something! As you can see here, I’m using books and other various decorative items to create highs and lows. It keeps the eyes moving about and creates a nice flow.
Think about incorporating family treasures into your mantel decor
The books that this peaceful Angel is sitting on are my Nana’s old bibles that she kept in her nightstand. I love that they are torn and worn out. It adds to the rustic and vintage flair and also allows me to display these family treasures in a decorative way. Just looking at the peaceful Angel resting on the bibles gives one a sense of peace and serenity.
The rose container that the vintage tree is sitting on was my Mom’s. By the way, the rustic tree is a diy that I made and you can see how to make it here.
Mostly everything in my Angel inspired Vintage Mantel has a meaning and a memory. This LOVE book was given to me and my husband from his Mom. Inside the book is an actual handwritten recipe book that she made. It’s a special momento to display as she is no longer with us.
Incorporating greenery helps to soften the decor and add color. I have chosen a few different types of garlands and faux plants to add a variety of different colors and textures. One of my most recent purchases is the Eucalyptus garland that I found over on Amazon. It comes with lights and a remote with different settings and a timer. At night it looks absolutely beautiful with the twinkling lights. You can find the garland HERE in my Amazon shop.
I hope that you gained some inspiration and got some unique ideas on how you can style your mantel this season. Think about ways that you can tell a story and then go from there! What family treasures can you put on display? Have fun and get creative!
