A diy wood riser using rope, wood candlestick holders, antique wax and green and brown peel and stick tiles.

Diy Boho Inspired Riser

I’ve recently become addicted to making risers. They are so easy to make and there are many ways that you can make them. If you are looking to amp up your decorating skills, risers are the PERFECT way to do that. They are a great way to create height where you need it. Whether it be in a vignette, on a dresser or even in the bathroom…they are a sure way to bring your decorating to the next level. I’m about to share with you a SUPER EASY way how I made this Diy Boho Inspired Riser for only a few dollars. It all started with a piece of scrap wood that I got from my Dad’s scrap wood stash.

LIST OF SUPPLIES:

  • Scrap wood. Mine was roughly 10”x10” and about 1” thick.
  • Antique Wax
  • Raw wood Candlesticks holders from Hobby Lobby
  • Peel and Stick tiles. I got mine from Targets Dollar Spot.
  • Dollar Tree Rope
  • Glue gun

INSTRUCTIONS:

I first started by staining the wood and the candlesticks holders with the antique wax. A simple and quick way to do this is to apply it with a baby wipe. Of course, you can use a paint brush if you prefer.

You do want to make sure to leave one side of the wood raw. This will make sure the peel and stick tiles will adhere well.

I found these peel and stick tiles over at Target in the Dollar Spot about a year ago. They have a cool Boho vibe that I like and I love the color combo.

I was a bit surprised when I opened the package and discovered that the tiles were individual pieces. I thought they were one solid sheet! Thankfully, they were easy to apply!

What I ended up doing was measuring the center piece of the wood and applied the first piece of the peel and stick tile there, to help ensure that they went on evenly.

To add a finishing touch, I took some nautical rope that I bought from The Dollar Tree and applied it with hot glue all around the edges of the wood.

Next, I attached the candlestick holders with hot glue to all four bottom corners. Now it has legs to stand on and it’s officially a riser!

That’s all there is to it! I had fun styling it in a few different ways.

I think it looks beautiful paired with my diy dollar tree cloche. The color combos go together so well. What do you think?

Will you be making a diy Boho inspired Riser too? How will you decorate yours?
