It’s garden planting season and I can’t wait for you to see these Dollar Tree Spoon Garden Sticks that I made for my husbands garden this year! I had so much fun making them for all the different vegetables that he has planted this season. They are bright and cheery and best of all…they are made out of plastic. You don’t have to worry about them getting damaged by the weather or water. These would make a great gift idea for the gardener in your life!
Let’s just say that when it comes to gardening…. the Lord didn’t bless me in that department! I can’t even keep a succulent alive! However, I can make something cute to decorate that garden with.🤣😂 That’s how it works in my home…he plants the things and keeps them alive and I make them look cute.
You don’t need any serious painting skills for this project. It’s all about having fun and being creative.
Let’s get started!
It all starts with these plastic mixing spoons from The Dollar Tree. You get 4 for a Dollar and that’s win for me. If you have a lot going on in the garden, this is an inexpensive way to add some character to it.
You will first want to start by taking an inventory of what you have planted or what you or going to plant. Next, go ahead and grab yourself a sharpie and write the names of the veggies or fruit on the side of the spoons.
This is where the fun begins! Grab your paint colors and have fun and be creative. I started with green paint and tried to get a little fancy by adding some highlights to make it look a little more realistic. I do recommend that you use some type of sealer over the paint to protect your work. Here is what I used.
Googling images of the veggies doesn’t hurt! I will say that the cauliflower and broccoli were a little tricky, but hey…they work!
How fun are these? They are guaranteed to make any gardener or non-gardener happy when they see them.
Here is an idea to present them as a gift for someone. I took a Dollar Tree bucket and added some floral styrofoam to the bottom. Next, I pushed the spoons into the styrofoam. I added some cute gardening gloves and a spade from the Dollar Tree to it. Seed packets would be great to add to it too. I finished it off by tying a little sign with jute around it. Voila… you have a great gift to present to that someone special in your life.
This is all about having fun and being creative. What gardener would not love this gift?
