Dollar Tree Rope Basket - Create Make Decorate with Nikki

Today’s DIY inspiration came from Pottery Barn. I was searching their website day dreaming and wishing that I could go on an unlimited shopping spree there. Oh my gosh, that would be just heaven for me! Their stuff is amazing, but the prices are way out of my league! I came across these beautiful woven baskets and fell in love with them. The price tag…eh..not so much. They wanted $199.99 for a set of two baskets! Yep, you heard me right! That’s when I knew that I had to figure out how to DIY them for way less than that.

I’m excited to share with you my version of of their baskets using a few things you can purchase from the Dollar Tree. Here is my Pottery Barn Inspired Dollar Tree Rope Basket that I think gives theirs a pretty good competition.

Here is what you’ll need:

Dollar Tree Wire Basket
2 packs of Dollar Tree Nautical Rope
1 pack of Dollar Tree Nautical Rope in Cotton
Hot Glue

You will want to first start by creating a few handles for your basket. I cut mine to the size that I wanted and used my hot glue to attach them to the basket.

Starting at the top, you will add glue and the rope and continue winding it around the basket, working your way down. I ended up applying the rope over the handles to help secure them a little bit more.

I applied the glue to the bottom piece of the rope as I applied a new piece of rope. I hope this part makes sense! The glue will just go through the basket if you don’t have a surface to attach it to.

About one quarter of the way through, I grabbed the lighter colored Cotton Rope and applied it the same way. The Pottery Barn baskets were two-toned like this and that’s what I loved about them. You will want to wrap it around about 3 times and then go back to the other rope and finish it off.
