diy dollar tree easter egg

Spring is not officially here yet, the Dollar Tree sure has me thinking it is! I tell ya, they sure know how to get you in the mood for decorating!

Have you been to the Dollar Tree to check out their Spring goodies yet? I think you will want to after you see this SUPER CUTE diy dollar tree easter egg that I’m about to share with you. You can get ALL the supplies from The Dollar Tree, so it’s a one stop shop!

Here is what you’ll need:

Let’s get started!

You will want to start by removing the back of the napkin, to get it to just one layer. If you skip this process, it will not adhere well to the surface.

Next, you’ll want to apply a thin coat of mod podge onto the piece of wood with the foam brush. By the way, how cute are these napkins? You can find them at the Dollar Tree in the party supply section. I love that they have both polka dots and the chevron print on them…that’s what makes this project turn out so cute!

Now, just lay the napkin on top and smooth it out as best as you can. You will probably have a few wrinkles, but that’s ok.

Next, you will need to grab a sanding block and sand off the edges. This helps give it a nice, clean finish. I put another coat of mod podge on top of the napkin to seal it.

Now comes the fun part….. decorating it!

I found these chalkboard tags in the crafters square section at the Dollar Tree and thought that they would look cute on the egg with “Happy Easter” written on them. If you don’t have a stamp kit, no worries. You can use a sharpie too!

Next, you’ll want to grab the jute and wrap it around the top section of the egg, securing it with hot glue.

I added a cute bow on top. I found all the ribbon at the Dollar Tree too! I’m telling ya’ll, the Dollar Tree is stepping up their crafting game!

I looped some jute through the tag and through the jute on the egg and tied it off with a bow.

Tada……that’s all there is to it! How stinkin cute is this?

I love crafts that are SIMPLE and AFFORDABLE! You can make a few of these different ways for only a few dollars!
