Hey friends! I’m back with an amazing thrift store candleholder makeover for you. I found these at my local thrift store for $2.99 each. They are fairly tall and were already white with chipped paint! Score!!! I have used these a lot over the past few years, but I thought that it was time to give them a makeover and change them up a bit.
I came across some really cute candleholders at a well known store that were $25.00 a piece. They were beautiful, but definitely was not what I was wanting to spend. So, I used them for some inspiration for this project!
Here are the supplies that I used to create this look.

- Craft Smart Light Taupe Paint
- Valspar Antiquing Glaze
- Surebonder HotGlue Gun
- Half wood beads
I began by painting them 2 coats of paint with the color Light Taupe by Craft Smart. You can find it over at Michaels.
Next, I took some half wood beads and glued them to the center of the candleholder. I glued a row on top and a row on the bottom.
Now, I did it a little backwards. You can glue the beads on before you paint the base coat to save you a little time and just paint it all at once. Whichever way you choose, is just fine. Paint the beads taupe as well.
Make sure that the base coat is dry before you proceed to the next step.
Let’s glaze it up!
Now to add my favorite part! I found this beautiful Valspar Antiquing Glaze over at Lowes and was excited to use it on something. This project was perfect for it! Working in small sections, I applied it with a soft paint brush. Once it was on, I came up right behind it with a paper towel and wiped it off. Kind of like Mr. Miagi. You know… Wax on, wax off! Make sure to get the glaze in all of the little nooks and crannies. This definitely adds to the aged look in the end.
And that’s it!! This Thrift Store Candle holder Makeover has definitely made it into my top makeovers yet.
These do not even look like the same candleholders. They seriously went from drab to fab in about 30 minutes!
