Hello friends! I am so glad that you stopped by today because I have a simple, but beautiful craft to share with you. It’s a Painted Book Stack that will add a wonderful touch to your decorating.
Book stacks are a great way to add some height where you need it in your vignette styling. In addition to that, you can find books at the Thrift Store or even the Dollar Tree for very little money. You can even shop your own home for some that you already have on hand. For this particular project, a hard cover book works best. However, you can use a book with a soft cover too!
These books can be personalized to suit your decorating style. They are fun to make for everyday decor and they are especially fun to make for your Holiday decorating. Add a fun quote according to the occasion or holiday to customize them up a bit. However you decide to make them, I guarantee that you will love them!
Here is what I used for this project:
- 3 Hard cover books
- Chalk Paint
- Stencil
- Ribbon
- Paint brush
How to make a painted book stack
Let me first begin by saying I painted this book stack a few years back and I am ready to give them a little refresh. That’s another great thing about this project! You can always change the look of them down the road.
I purchased these 3 books over at the local thrift store for 50 cents each.
I began by giving all 3 books two coats of white chalk paint. Now, I only painted the outer part of the book covers and the spine. There really is no reason to paint the inside of the book unless you really want to.
To add a fun design onto the books, I used this stencil that I found over at Walmart.
I placed it on top of the book cover and painted on the color Mineral in Waverly Chalk Paint. Next, I used the smaller stencil pattern on the spine of the books.
The hardest part of this whole project is deciding what words that you want to put on your books. Using my stamp kit, I decided to stamp the words, ” La Dolce Vida.” The Sweet Life it is!
To finish it up, I tied some burlap ribbon around them! I think they turned out so pretty and talk about a complete refresh. They are now bright with some of the rustic vibe that I love so much.
For now, I have styled them with this beautiful upcyled vintage tin. They make a great riser for this little space and the two pair together nicely. These painted book stacks can be used all throughout the year and as you can see, they can also be painted over again should you want to change them up a bit.
