Have you seen these little Christmas Trees over at the Dollar Tree? They have them in both white and green. Unfortunately, my store didn’t have green ones on the day that I went. No problem…..I figured that I could just diy one! My famous last words!!! I grabbed some green paint and gave my Dollar Tree Christmas Tree a makeover that turned out to be so cute and actually looks like a flocked tree. Let me show you just how easy it is to do!
What you will need for this project:
- dollar tree christmas tree
- dollar tree christmas box
- green paint
- brown paint of antique wax
- paint brush
- floral styrofoam
- ribbon
- dollar tree gnome ornament, optional
To start, I took my waverly chalk paint in the color fern. With very little paint on it, I took my paintbrush and lightly painted my tree. Using a dry brush technique, I made sure to only go on the surface of the tree. You can add as much or as little as you want. I was trying to make it look like it was a flocked tree.
How to do a Dollar Tree Christmas Tree Makeover
I painted the stem of the tree green as well.
To make it look a little bit more realistic, I grabbed my waverly antique glaze and painted over the green.
This box from the dollar tree made the perfect holder for my tree! I cut a piece of the floral styrofoam and hot glued it inside of the box. Next, I just popped my tree in the styrofoam. If you can’t find these boxes, get creative with what you have and diy one!
For a topper, I grabbed some ribbon from my stash and made a simple a bow.
I couldn’t resist this little gnome ornament when I saw him at the Dollar Tree. He is just too cute and he fit perfectly in the box!
I love how this little project turned out and I hope that you do too! It’s just a simple and inexpensive way to dress up one of those little trees. Put your own spin on it and get creative! Have fun dressing it up any way that you like. You could even put some small ornaments on it.
These trees would be great to add into your Christmas Tablescape. Customize them to your theme and color scheme.
What you do think? I hope this inspired you and gave you an idea on how to give your Dollar Tree Christmas Tree a makeover in just a few simple steps.
