Last year I made a Farmhouse Riser out of a few items from the Dollar Tree. It has been one of my most popular Pins on Pinterest. I needed another riser for my home, so I decided to make another one. I really love all the black decor, so I changed it up a bit and painted it black. If you are looking for an easy and inexpensive diy that you can make in a few minutes, this black farmhouse riser is it!
Here is what you will need:
- Dollar Tree Cake Pan
- Dollar Tree metal bucket
- wood beads
- Black Paint
- Jute twine
- Glue gun

First, begin by painting your cake pan and bucket. I used Krylon fusion Spray Paint in Matte Black. It took about 2 coats to get it completely covered. Set aside to allow to dry completely.
To assemble the two pieces together, I used a combination of both E6000 and hot glue. Find your center of the cake pan and apply the E6000 first. Follow with the hot glue onto the rim of the bucket. The hot glue allows a quick hold, while the E6000 provides a permanent hold.
I used some black acrylic paint for touch ups. I was not patient and didn’t allow the spray paint to dry completely! 😜
First, measure the diameter of the cake pan under the rim. Cut the twine accordingly.
Next, I grabbed some raw wood beads and strung them onto the jute twine. The size that I chose are about 1/2 inch. You can really use whatever size that you want.
Simply add a dot of hot glue on the last two beads and tie off the ends. It kind of looks like a necklace, right?
Flip the whole thing over and apply the hot glue to the bottom of the cake pan rim and on the sides. Apply your beads and and hot glue in small sections as you make your way around the pan. Can you see where I touched up the paint? Lol Thankfully, it’s underneath and you won’t be able to see it. 😀
That’s all there is to it! It is so simple and turned out so beautiful. What do you all think? I chose to leave the beads in their natural form, as I liked the contrast between the two colors.
It is the perfect riser for my Hocus Pocus witches. By the way, you can see how I made the Witch Hat Tassel here.
There are many ways that you can use a riser. I like to use one in my kitchen or bathroom to set hand soap and towels on it. It takes your decorating up a notch!
