Diy Textured Angel Painting

Hey there friends! It has been a while since I have been able to post a new craft and I am excited to share this one with you. I’ve been doing a little experimenting with painting and let me tell you that I have been having so much fun! I love to try new things to get inspired with crafting and creating. What about you? I purchased this cute sign from the Dollar Tree and decided to give it a little makeover by creating my own little diy textured angel painting. I think it came out super cute and it was easy to do! Let me show you how you can paint one too.

In my craft stash I had this black and white scrapbook paper that created a beautiful background for my angel painting. I cut out the size and applied it with mod podge.

How to paint a textured Angel

Now this is where the fun begins! I used a pallet knife and some vinyl spackle and got creative. Trace out the angel shape using a small amount of spackle on the palette knife. You can also trace out the shape with a pencil if you don’t feel comfortable free handing it.

Once you have the shape of the Angel, fill it in with the rest of the spackle. Add multiple layers of the spackle to create some texture to the wings to give the illusion of feathers.

Let it dry completely before painting it. I tend to get a little impatient so I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process.

Now, just paint away! I used acrylic craft paint on mine, but feel free to use whatever paint you like.

You can see how the texture really pops when you start adding your paint to it. I used a combination of white, grey, gold and pink paint for my diy textured angel painting. You can watch a short video on the whole process here too!

For the final touch, I added some antique wax to the frame, beads and the Angel to give it that old world French Country flair.

I love how this diy textured angel painting turned out and it was so simple to make! This project cost under $5.00 and turned out beautiful. I hope that you gained some inspiration and courage to create your own angel painting. Let me know below what you all think and if you will try it out.
