Diy Shabby Chic Frame - Create Make Decorate with Nikki

Do you have any old picture frames that no longer suit your style? Why not try and give them a makeover? I was looking for a frame for a Christmas craft one day and stumbled across this one. It was in need of a makeover and would be perfect to create a DIY SHABBY CHIC FRAME. I added the sheet music of my favorite Christmas song and made the most beautiful Christmas Sign ever!!!

Materials Needed:

Frame

Brown and White Paint

Petroleum Jelly

Sand paper or Sanding block

Paint brush

Sheet music

Painting an old picture frame to look shabby chic

Begin by painting the whole frame brown. I am using Waverly chalk paint in the color Truffle. I love this color and I’m so bummed that my Walmart no longer carries this brand of paint. It is one of my favorites!

When the paint is dry, apply the petroleum jelly with your finger in the areas that you want it to look distressed. I made sure to apply it to the corners as well as random areas on the frame. This will make the paint not adhere well in these spots and will make the distressing part easier.

Next, apply the white paint directly over the brown and the petroleum jelly.

This is where the fun begins!!! Grab the sanding block and start sanding away, paying attention to the areas where the petroleum jelly is. You will see how easy the paint comes off and how cool it looks!

I added the sheet music of my FAVORITE Christmas Song. I was able to find it over on google images and just printed it out.
