If you have been following me along for a while, you should know that I love to use risers in my decor! They are PERFECT for adding just that little bit of height where you need it to make that certain piece stand out. You can really step up your decorating game just by adding a few risers in your vignettes, table scapes or where ever you need one. There are many things that you can use as risers too, such as books, candle holders, etc. BUT… they are also fun to make and are actually very easy! For example, I took a sign from the Dollar Tree to make the CUTEST Diy Dollar Tree Sled Riser that works PERFECT in my Candyland themed kitchen.
Let me show you exactly how easy it is to make your own Diy Dollar Tree Sled Riser!!!
If you happen to see this sign at the Dollar Tree, be sure to pick one up and also two of the wreath holders.
Here is what you will need for this project:
- Sled sign from the Dollar Tree
- 2 wreath holders from the Dollar Tree
- Red and White striped Scrapbook paper
- Mod Podge
- Glue gun
- Sanding Block
You will first begin by tracing out the sled onto the scrapbook paper. I picked this fun striped paper up from Hobby Lobby. My theme this year is all red and white and this paper was a perfect find.
I just recently finished decorating my Christmas Mantel in all red and white and it turned out so BEAUTIFUL. If you are looking for some ideas for your mantel, you can see my Red and White Christmas Mantel here.
Apply the mod podge with a paint brush onto the sled and lay the paper over it. Smooth it out to get rid of any bubbles. TIP: Use a heat gun or blow dryer to help seal the paper down and smooth out the wrinkles with a credit card.
I like to take a piece of sand paper to clean up the edges. Just simply run it down the edges and it will create a clean line.
Now, you will need to grab your two wreath holders. What I did was take one of the ends and bend it in the opposite direction. You can see the one on the right is how it was normally and the one on the left is how I bent it backwards. You will notice in the pictures above that the wreath hangers ends are in opposite directions. The ends need to both be the same in order for them to stand properly. I sure hope this makes sense!!!
Grab your glue gun and glue them to the back of the sign to create the legs of the sled.
That’s all there is to it! You have now created a BEAUTIFUL and EASY sled riser to add to your Christmas decor.
You can see just how easy risers are to make and how you can literally make them out of anything!
I sure hope that you all enjoyed this craft and that it has inspired you to make your own Diy Dollar Tree Sled Riser to add to your Christmas decor!
