I’m back with another “think outside of the box” craft from The Dollar Tree. I have seen these butterfly stickers several times at the Dollar Tree and have always passed them up…until now! I decided to grab a pack and figure out what to do with them later. Eventually, I knew that I would figure out a way to craft with them. While digging through my craft stash, I came upon some wooden spoons and it hit me! They would make perfect sticks to place the butterflies on to feel as if they were kind of flying. Stay with me here because I am going to show you how I made these whimsical and what I like to call “Butterfly on a Spoon” garden art.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- BUTTERFLY STICKERS FROM THE DOLLAR TREE
- 1-4 WOODEN SPOONS. (DEPENDING ON HOW MANY YOU WANT TO MAKE)
- SCRAPBOOK PAPER
- MOD PODGE
- GLUE GUN
- FLORAL MOSS
DIRECTIONS:
You will first start out by cutting out the scrap book paper to the size that you need. You want it big enough to be able to wrap it around the spoon once. Apply the Mod Podge to the paper and simply roll it around the stick part of the spoon.
Here is what you get. Be aware of where the seam will be. Try and make it on the back of the spoon. You can see here that my placement wasn’t in the best spot!
I was going for a whimsical theme with my butterfly on a spoon, but you can choose any colors that you want. Have fun and get creative! I painted the spoon part black and then added some gold to the base of it.
Next, you will want to hot glue the butterfly right onto the spoon.
To add some texture and color, I grabbed some floral moss and hot glued it around the butterfly.
That’s it!! What an easy craft, right? I used mine in a cute, little pot on my patio for decoration.
They are also a great to use on your packages! I added this one to a birthday gift bag for a friend of mine!
As you can see, I made 3 different ones and mixed up the scrapbook paper. I think they turned out so cute and unique! What do you think? Is this something that you might consider making too? Leave a comment and let me know.
DON’T FORGET TO PIN FOR LATER!
I hope that this project has inspired you to get out and create, make and decorate some for yourself or as a gift for a friend!

Happy Creating!
