Spring Bunny Topiary

Spring is in the air over here in Southern California! The weather is in the 80’s and that’s what I call PERFECT weather. I’m getting all the feels to get my Spring and Easter decor out, but before I do that I thought I would kick off the season with a new Diy Spring craft. This Spring Bunny Topiary is the perfect craft to make and is easy to do too.

I started off by shopping my own stash and re-creating an old craft from last year and giving it a new life. I tied it in with a few random pieces and came up with this beautiful French Country inspired piece to add to my Spring decor.

  • Dollar Tree mop

  • Glue gun
  • Paint

How to make a Spring Bunny Topiary

A flower pot painted with white chalk paint.

You will need to grab a flower pot and paint it white or whatever color that you prefer. I am re-purposing this flower pot that I purchased from the Dollar Tree. It was already painted white from a previous craft, so I am using this as my base color. Inside the pot is a small bag of rocks, floral foam and floral moss placed on top . All of these items were purchased from The Dollar Tree.

Using cardboard as a template to trace out bunny ears for a spring bunny topiary.

To create the bunny ears, I drew out a template to the size that I wanted onto a piece of cardboard. They are approximately 3 1/2″ tall.

Next, I took the bunny ear templates and traced them onto the back of the Dollar Tree mop and cut them out. You will need to cut out 4 pieces in total. I will warn you that the mop is VERY messy when you cut it and frays a lot, so have a trash can handy!

For the next step, I took my glue gun and glued them to the front and back of the cardboard template.

To make a pom pom bunny tail, I wrapped some white yarn around my hand to the size that I wanted. I then slipped it off of my hand.

Next, I took a small piece of yarn and looped it through the opening and tied it in a knot.

After that, I took one more piece of yarn and tied it off at the top. You may need to trim the ends a bit to make it a little more fluffy.

How to assemble a Spring Bunny Topiary

A flower pot filled with moss and a green topiary.

To assemble the Spring Bunny Topiary, I placed the greenery into the pot and through the floral foam. For the ears and tail, I placed them into the greenery. After Spring, I can easily remove the ears and tail and use this as a simple topiary for everyday decor.

I decided to paint some flowers onto the pot to make it a little more “Springy”. You can see a video of how I did that here.

  1. So cute❗️ ( if you had a little styrofoam ball, you could glue the leftover mop pieces to it & make the tail)
