How to make a Fancy Wood Bunny Sign

Ok, first things first! Lay out your picket fencing and draw out the shape of the bunny. I used pencil to free hand draw mine out so that I can erase if I made a mistake. Let’s just say that I erased a few times!

Once that was done, I took my jig saw and cut out the shape of the ears and body. This bunny stands about 4ft. tall, but of course you can make yours any size that you would like.

Next, you will grab your 1 x 2 pieces and cut them to about 5 inches in length. Apply a small amount of wood glue to them and place them on the top and bottom of the picket fence. Take your drill and some screws and screw them into the picket fence to secure your two pieces together.

How to paint your Fancy Bunny Wood Sign

Let the fun begin! This was my most favorite part of this whole project. I had so much fun decorating and bringing her to life. First, let me apologize for the poor quality of some of these photos coming up. I created her over on my Facebook page on a live video and had to screenshot some of the photos. You can see the video here.

As you can see, I drew out the bunny shape onto the wood with a pencil. Don’t judge here…LOL… I promise she is going to be cute! If you have any apprehensions about drawing a bunny, please don’t! Listen, if I can do it so can you!

Now, grab some white paint and a brush and paint away. I painted her whole body white.

Now, let’s add some detail. Using a pencil, draw out her eyes and mouth, then go over them with black paint. Add some definition to her ears with some pink paint.

Get creative and have fun with the details on her face! Add some pink whiskers and paint a heart for her mouth. I used hot glue to glue a half wood bead for her nose to add some dimension and painted it pink.

How to decorate your Fancy Bunny Wood Sign

For her cheeks I used a cotton ball and some old eye shadow. Simply rub the cotton ball onto the makeup and then rub it onto her cheeks. This helps create nice, soft and rosy cheeks.

This fancy bunny wood sign wouldn’t be fancy without some jewerly! I used the crafting pearls to create a necklace and earrings and the rhinestone ribbon to create bracelets and a ring. Of course, she needed a little mani and pedi!

This tulle from a previous project worked perfect for a dress! I used a needle and thread to create a loose stitch to gather the top together. Next, I used my glue gun to glue it to the bunny.

Here she is all finished! Oh my goodness, I just love the way she turned out. For now, I have her sitting on my front porch greeting my guests as they arrive. She is sure to bring a smile to anyones face.
