I’m always looking for new ways to come up with storage ideas. Whether it be for craft supplies, home storage ideas or even a cute planter shelf on my porch, it seems that I never have enough storage. Can you relate? Do you find yourself always needing more storage ideas? Often times small shelves can be quite expensive and they don’t necessarily fit within our budget. Well, I have a great inexpensive and EASY hack for you! This Dollar Tree Storage Shelf is not only budget friendly, but is super cute and will definitely provide some extra storage for you!
You will only need a few items to create this Dollar Tree Storage Shelf and you can build it for less than $10.00!
Here is what you will need:
- 3 metal containers from the Dollar Tree
- 1 x 2 piece of wood
- Screws
- Drill
- Paint, optional
How to build your own Dollar Tree Storage Shelf
This project can be customized to whatever size and colors that you want it to be. I began by using two scrap 1 x 2 pieces of wood from my yard. They are roughly 2 1/2 feet tall.
I began by spray painting the metal containers white.
After the paint was dry, I took some black paint and went over the edges to create the look of enamel ware. I used a black sharpie to go over the letters.
Next, I arranged them onto the 1 x 2’s and used a sharpie to mark where I needed to drill the holes into the wood.
I recommend that you pre-drill the holes in the metal containers first before screwing them into the wood. It will make it a whole lot easier! I found the drill was bouncing around on the container and it messed up where I had marked it. In turn it had made the holes a little crooked, therefore making one of the containers hang crooked.
Repeat the process for all three containers.
That’s all there is to it! I just doesn’t get any easier than that. Now you have a beautiful storage shelf to use wherever you need one!
Here are 3 different ways to use your Dollar Tree Storage Shelf
I’m sharing 3 different ideas for you. Tell me which one is your favorite?
If you are a crafter, this is perfect for paint brushes, paint, glue guns and glue sticks.
It’s also a great display for fake florals on your patio or your front porch!
Lastly and I think my favorite, is for bathroom storage. How cute is this for those extra toilet papers rolls, hand towels and air freshener! You could even add some hangers onto the back and hang it on a wall. This would be great even as a fruit holder for your kitchen or even spices. The possibilities for this Dollar Tree Storage Shelf are endless!
