Hey there! Have you been to the Dollar Tree lately? They are really stepping up their game this year! They have a lot of really cute wood signs there. I was strolling down the aisle and came across this truck and I just knew that I had to grab one!
These little Farmhouse trucks are definitely the hot tickets and believe me, they will go quickly. Let me show you what I did with mine! I love how it turned out.
Supplies needed:
- Wood Truck sign
- Ivory paint. I used Waverly brand found at Walmart.
- Black paint
- Waverly antique glaze
- orange paint
- Spanish Moss
I started by painting the body of the truck Ivory. This took 2 coats.
Next, I grabbed my black paint and proceeded to paint the tires. I had some gold paint and went ahead and painted the rims gold.
You guys, if you have never used Waverly’s antique glaze, you are missing out! As you can see my bottle is well loved! I use it on A LOT of my crafts. I love the way it makes stuff look! It works well as just a stain on raw wood too! I encourage you to go get yourself a bottle! Believe me, you will love this stuff. I applied it to the rails of the truck.
Now this is where it gets fun!
I wanted to create a rusty and weathered look to my truck and the antique glaze was perfect for the job. I wadded up a piece of a paper towel and dipped it into the glaze and started to just dab it on the fender part of the truck. There really isn’t much to this process. Just keep dabbing until you get the look that you want!
Continue all around the edges of the truck. You can see that it’s starting to look a little old and rusty! I painted my pumpkins orange and used the glaze on the stems.
Next, I added some spanish moss to the bed of the truck. The pumpkins needed something to sit on and this softened it up a bit. Plus, it created some much needed texture.
I love how this project turned out. I decided to put it in my dough bowl as part of my dining table centerpiece. What do you think? I hope that it gave you a good idea and you create one of your own!
If you love this project as much as I do, can you do me a little favor and…

I love the look of it Nikki, it came out so cute.. I wouldn’t have thought of doing what you did.. I think it came out very good. Maybe when I get my breadboard I’ll see what to do with it.
