I love a good thrift store find! The excitement of digging through all the goodies and finding that perfect thing that you weren’t even looking for is just so fun. Do you know what I’m talking about? You don’t go to the thrift store looking for something in particular…the thrift store pretty much tells you what you need! LOL
This Spring craft was inspired by a beautiful frame that I picked up on one of my thrifting adventures. I bought it for $1.50 and it’s just perfect!
Here is what I used:
- Thrift store picture frame
- Wood Shims
- Dollar tree Color Your Own Ornaments bunny shape
- Scrapbook paper
- Mod Podge
- Glue gun
- Folk Art Wax
- Sanding Block
- Waverly Chalk Paint in Plaster and Mineral
Isn’t this frame beautiful? What I loved about it was all the detail on it.
Let’s get started!
I started by giving it 2 coats of Waverly Chalk Paint in Plaster. I use this color on A LOT of my projects. It’s a pretty creamy white and goes well with everything.
Can you see that detail already popping in the left corner?
The back was missing on the frame when I bought it, so I had to get creative. That’s where the shims come into play. I cut them to them to the size that I needed and painted them in the color Mineral.
This is one of my favorite grays to use. It’s a perfect gray tone.
Next, I grabbed my glue gun and glued them in.
Next up, I traced out the bunny onto some scrap book paper and mod podged it onto the bunny cut out.
As you can see here, one of the shims didn’t fit perfectly into the frame part. I think it just adds to the shabbiness of the piece. It’s perfectly imperfect!
I hot glued the bunny onto the shims. I used my Folk Art Wax to seal the paint. Oops,I forgot to mention that I used my sanding block to distress the edges around the frame.
The final result!!
I just love when a project comes together! This turned out to be the perfect Vintage inspired picture that I had in my mind. I’ve been on a kick lately with making a lot of Vintage style decor for the Easter and Spring Season. I believe in making decor that you can easily transition and use for any time of the year and this project is just that.
Well, tell me what you think about this Thrift store flip? Do you have any old frames hanging around or are you going to hop in your car and find a hidden treasure at the thrift store?

I am in love with this! Exactly what my decor reflects and I have a trio of frames that almost match this one!
Awesome! Thank you so much!
