Diy Valentine’s Wood Block Riser

I love using risers when decorating. They’re great for everyday decor to create a good visual element and you can make them out of many things. For this Diy Valentine’s wood block riser, I literally went over to my little wood pile stash and grabbed a scrap piece of a 4×4 piece of wood. Don’t ever throw out scrap wood because they are just projects waiting to be created!

Let’s get started!

I love simple crafts and this project just couldn’t get any easier.

I started by painting my wood block in the color Plaster. In case you are wondering, my block is roughly about 5 inches high.

Setting that aside to dry, I then painted the heart pink.

I grabbed my Waverly antique glaze to “age” the heart up a bit.

I think everything looks better when it’s a little distressed, don’t you? It just brings out the detail so much. You can pick up these sanding blocks over at The Dollar Tree. They always come in handy!

Next, I just wrapped some jute string around the top and bottom and secured it with hot glue. Then, I added the heart to it.

I chose not to glue the heart on, so that once Valentines is over I can remove it and continue to use this riser in my everyday decor.

I love how this turned out and how simple it was to make. This cost about $1.00 to make, if even that! So, you see what I’m saying about saving those scrap pieces of wood? Somewhere out there, you have a Diy Valentine’s wood block riser waiting to be made!

Here are a few different ideas to stage it in your Valentine’s Day vignette. I’m not sure if I like it better with the candle or the plant. What do you think?

Hey, if you like this project can you do me a favor and share it with your friends? I would appreciate it!
