Coming up with unique crafts and decor for Christmas each year definitely is something that I love to do. There are so many beautiful things that you can buy in the stores, but I love adding in my own personal touches. Making and creating your own signature pieces for Christmas just makes the holiday feel more special. It also can create a special time to get together with your friends and family and have a fun craft night. The time spent together and the memories being made are priceless!
Today’s craft is definitely something different and unique. I was scrolling through Pinterest one evening searching for Deer Crafts for Christmas. What kept coming up in my feed were actual real deer mounts with frames around them. I thought it was kind of cool looking! Although, I don’t have a real deer to frame I did have a wood deer cut out in my craft stash. I went and grabbed it and came up with this Diy Mounted Reindeer Decor that turned out so cute! In fact, my husband told me that it’s one of his favorite Christmas crafts that I have made.
Here is a list of supplies that you will need:
- Reindeer cut out. I got mine at the Dollar Tree. You can also find them at Hobby Lobby.
- Cabinet door or large picture frame.
- White paint
- White glitter
- Rusty Bells
- Jenga blocks. You can find them at the Dollar Tree.
- Glue gun
- Gold metallic paint
- Rub n buff

How to make your own Diy Mounted Reindeer
I just so happened to have had an old cabinet door in my craft stash that ended up being the perfect backdrop for my reindeer. It’s roughly 10 x 13 inches in size. I know that not everyone has a cabinet door laying around, so you can use a picture frame as well.
I began by gluing on 6 of the jenga blocks onto the center of the cabinet door so that I can create some height for my mounted reindeer head.
Next, I painted the deer face all white and the antlers in a metallic gold. I ended up not using the shimmer color as shown above.
Sorry about the poor quality of the photo, I had to screenshot it from a live video that I did on Facebook. You can watch a full video of this craft here.
I painted the whole frame brown and used the antique gold Rub n buff all along the edges. This was my first time ever using this product and I absolutely am addicted to it! It is so beautiful and gave it the antique and vintage look that I wanted.
The brown paint was chalk paint, so before I applied the Rub n Buff, I sealed it first with a layer of mod podge. Next, I applied the Rub n Buff with my finger all along the edges. You can watch the video here on how I did it.
Be sure to PIN this Diy Mounted Reindeer to your Christmas Board!!
I took some jute and looped it through the holes that were on the antlers and attached the rusty bells to it. I finished it off with his cute little crown embellishment to add a funky little touch to it! What do you think?
