I’m so excited to share my latest home decor diy with you all! This diy farmhouse truck it so easy to make and you will find mostly all of the items at the Dollar Tree. That means that is SUPER affordable to make! I love that!!
Here is what you will need:
- 2 Farmhouse truck wood cut outs from the Dollar tree
- 1 wood crate from the Dollar tree
- Popsicle sticks from the Dollar tree
- Glue gun
- Paint
- Spanish Moss
I’ve been digging through my craft stash to try and use what I have on hand before going and buying more stuff. Lord knows, that I have A LOT of stuff to go through! I came across these 2 trucks that I bought at Christmas time, but never got around to doing anything with them. I had to get creative! Well, I decided that I could make my own farmhouse truck.
Let’s get started!!
To start this project, I began by taking a sanding block to remove as much as the Merry Christmas glitter writing as I could. I will tell you that all of it did not completely come off. I figured the paint would cover up what was left.
Next, I grabbed the wood crate and some Waverly Antique Glaze and applied it with a baby wipe. This helps it go on super easy and with little mess.
Once the glaze was dry, I grabbed my glue gun and hot glued the crate to the truck. Then I took the other truck and glued it on top of the crate.
This is what I ended up with. Now to figure out the front half of the truck. I had some popsicle sticks and figured I could do something with them.
Next, I measured the width of the truck and cut the popsicle sticks to the size that I needed and hot glued them on.
I kept working my way around until I had a top and a hood for my truck. I was getting really excited when I saw it actually coming together! How cute, right?
Next, I grabbed my Waverly Chalk Paint in one of my favorite colors, Agave and painted the whole truck.
I was a little bummed that I could still see the Merry Christmas writing. I cut out a piece of the Farmers Market Calendar that I have from The Dollar Tree and decided to Mod Podge over it. It didn’t cover all of it, but at least disguised it.
To make it look a little rusty and old, I applied Waverly Antique Glaze on it. I love this stuff and I love how this truck it looking! What do you think?
Seriously, how stinkin cute is this? We all know how expensive these trucks can be in the stores and I made this for about $3.00! It’s rustic, shabby and perfectly imperfect! If you make one, I would love to know what you would do with yours.
DON’T FORGET TO SHARE AND PIN FOR LATER!!
I hope this has inspired you to diy a truck for yourself! You can see how easy it is to do and it’s so fun to create it the way you want!
