I am so excited to show you how to make the EASIEST diy Farmhouse inspired riser ever! You should know by now that I’m all about crafting and creating on a budget. Let me tell you that this craft is no exception. It all starts with a trip to the Dollar Tree. I know, I know… shocker, right? You have to admit that there are just so many cool things there that you can work with.

Here is what you’ll need:
- Dollar Tree cake pan
- Dollar Tree galvanized bucket
- Waverly Chalk Paint in Plaster or whatever you choose
- Wax (I used Folk Art)
- Hot glue
- Glue gun
- E6000
- Half wood beads
- Sanding block
Let’s get started!
First, I started by painting the cake pan and bucket with Wavelry chalk paint in the color Plaster. It took about 3 coats total. You will want to make sure to allow the paint to dry between each coat.
One of my favorite paint brushes to use with chalk paint is the Waverly Chalk paint brush. It applies the paint smoothly and you can find it at Walmart.
Time to shabby it up!
Next, I took my sanding block to it to distress it and shabby it up a bit. This is my favorite part!
Taking my pencil to the bottom of the cake pan, I traced out where I would be gluing the two pieces together. I used hot glue and E600 to secure it down. The hot glue helps with immediate hold and the E6000 will be a permanent hold.
I used Folk Art Wax to seal the paint.
I decided to add some of these half wood beads that I purchased from Amazon to give it a little extra detail. Using my handy dandy hot glue gun, I applied them to the tray.
These are the 1 inch size beads.
I used the same Waverly Chalk Paint in Plaster to paint the beads.
That’s all there is to it! Honestly, this diy couldn’t get any easier and it only took a few supplies to make. Even better, is that it only cost a few dollars to make! This could easily compete with a Farmhouse Riser in a big named store or a boutique.
What do you all think? I will definitely be making a few more of these. In fact, I made another diy Farmhouse Inspired Riser in black and it turned out just beautiful. You can check it out here. Let me know which one you like best in the comment section below.
