Rustic Wood Angel

Are you like me and save scrap pieces of wood from projects that you have done around the house? You just know that there is a potential craft or diy that can be made from them, right? While digging through my wood stash one day, I found a piece of wood and I created this angel. Well, with that and a few other things.

Here is what I used for this project:

  • Scrap wood (size is 7″ wide by 12″ tall by 1 1/2″thick)
  • Dollar Tree Foam Angel sheets
  • paint
  • painters knife or pallet knife
  • hot glue
  • Waverly Antique glaze
  • ribbon
  • stamps

Let’s get started!

Using the angel as a template, I took the Waverly antique glaze and applied it with a foam brush all around the angel.

Once I finished, I lifted the template off and this is what it looked like.

Next, I grabbed some Waverly chalk paint in white and a palette knife and applied the paint to the wood piece. The wood is rough on top and has highs and lows on it, which was perfect for using the palette knife to create the weathered and chippy look. Here is a palette knife similar to the one I used: https://amzn.to/3gRRRe2

I started layering the paint with Waverly Agave to just give it a slight pop of color.

The little bit of sparkle and shimmer from the Waverly Gold Glitter paint was just perfect!

Using a grapevine wreath in my craft stash, I just cut a few pieces off of it to make this rustic halo and applied it with hot glue.

It need something on top, so I grabbed some burlap and glued it on above the angel.

Next, I cut out a piece of ribbon and used my stamp kit to stamp the word BLESSED on it. Here is my referral link for a similar stamp kit https://amzn.to/3qXQoHT

This project turned out so beautiful. It’s the perfect addition to my home decor and is the perfect blend of Rustic Elegance.

Has this has inspired you to go through your scrap wood stash and see what is there waiting for you to create? I guarantee there is a project waiting for you there. 😀 Thank you for stopping by!
