On one of my weekly stops to the Dollar Tree, I came across these oval wood pieces. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with them at the time I bought them, but I knew they would make for a great project one day.
After staring at them for a while, I decided that I wanted to combine my love of French Country Design and Fall together. That’s when it hit me…. a French Country Pumpkin Sign!
I had this Dollar Tree truck sign in my stash. I picked up the napkins over at Tuesday Morning on clearance.
This project takes only a few supplies to make and only costs a few dollars! Double win! Here are a list of supplies that you will need:
Supplies:
- 3 wood oval pieces. ( I got mine from The Dollar Tree)
- A wood sign or scrap piece of wood, roughly 12 x 12
- Napkins
- Wood Beads ( Affililiate Link https://amzn.to/2EQbNz3)
- Mod Podge (Affiliate Link https://amzn.to/3lB7s3P
- Waverly chalk paint in white and moss green.
- Paint brush (Affiliate Link https://amzn.to/2YY7TLP)
I started off by removing the truck from the wood sign. Next, I grabbed my Waverly Chalk Paint in Moss green and painted over it. Chalk paint sticks to pretty much anything and it’s my favorite paint to use for crafting.
I grabbed the oval wood pieces and painted them white. I didn’t want the wood color showing through the napkins.
Next, I grabbed the napkins and pulled them apart. If they are 2 or 3 ply napkins, you want to get them down to just one piece. This makes it stick better with the mod podge.
I traced out the shape of the wood onto the napkin and cut it out. I applied the mod podge to the wood first, then placed the napkin on top. Then, I applied another coat of mod podge onto the top of the napkin to seal it. I repeated this step on the other 2 pieces.
Next, I just placed them on top of the wood piece and hot glued them on. I added a wood stem and raffia bow and BOOM….. a french country pumpkin!
The jute hanger needed a little help, so added some wood beads to it. Now it’s PERFECT!
Well, so what do you think? I think it turned out SUPER CUTE! This can even be transitioned for your Spring decor too!

As always…..Happy creating!
