Dollar Tree Skeleton Trophy

Do you love to throw Halloween parties like me? I have a great DIY to share with you. These may not be for everybody, but let me tell you how popular these trophies are at my yearly Halloween Party. Who would’ve thought that these little Dollar Tree Skeletons would end up being the most sought after thing? They really encourage and get my guests excited to come up with some great costumes!

They are so fun and easy to make. You can get really creative and decorate them according to the categories that you have. I typically do the most creative costume, funniest and best couple costume awards. You can get all the stuff to make them at the Dollar Tree!

Here is what you will need to make them:

  • Dollar Tree skeleton
  • wooden dowel
  • small wood piece for stand
  • glue gun
  • drill
  • embellishments to dress it up ( spiders, hats, cotton, raffia, moss, etc.)
  • Gold spray paint (optional)

I first started by making hole in the pelvic area of the skeleton. I used a pair of scissors and poked a hole.

Next, I drilled a small hole in the round wood piece. Make sure to not drill the hole all the way through. I placed some hot glue into the hole and placed the wooden dowel into it. Once it was dry, I inserted the wooden dowel into the skeleton. Now it can stand on its own.

I went outside to spray paint them gold. I wanted them to be my version of an Emmy award. How fun, right?

Now on to the fun part! This is where you can get really creative. I used cotton balls, raffia and spanish moss for hair. I added spider rings, ribbon and bow ties. A feather boa was a great addition to my lady for best couple costume. Also, a red sharpie was perfect for her lipstick!

The witch hat and skirt is from The Dollar Tree. It was a decoration used for a bottle and it worked perfectly for this project. The bow tie was from a photo booth kit.

You see how fun these are? Get creative!

I would love to know your thoughts on these trophies. Do you think that you will make them? Heck, you can just use them as decorations for your house too.
