I’ve got another simple, but BEAUTIFUL craft to share with you today! This diy Ribbon Christmas Tree Sign is super fun to make. You will need to grab some various colors of ribbon and different patterns to create it. This craft is perfect for those scrap pieces of ribbon in your craft stash.
I am decorating with a lot of red and whites this Christmas, but you can have fun using whatever colors you are decorating with. I think it would be beautiful in black and white buffalo pattern too!
Supplies needed:
- 18 x 24 Canvas
- Various ribbon colors and patterns
- Glue Gun
- Wood Star ( I got mine from the Dollar Tree)
- Pom Pom Ribbon
- Black Buttons
- 1 x 2 piece of wood
How to make a your own Diy Ribbon Christmas Tree Sign
Begin by gluing on the 1 X 2 piece of wood to the canvas. If you do not have one, grab a stick from your yard. That would work great too!
Next, start with your first piece of ribbon and glue over the wood. I just eye-balled my ribbon strips, so I do not have any particular measurements.
I created a ruffled look with my ribbon. To do this, you will fold and overlap the ribbon as you work your way across. Secure with hot glue.
Lay out your ribbon before you glue it down to make sure that you like the pattern. I rearranged mine a couple different times.
Cut your strips a little shorter than the previous one as you work your way up. The size you cut is really your choice, depending on however large or small that you want to make your tree. You can see a smaller and slightly different version of this tree here.
For the tree topper, I used a Wooden Star ornament from the Dollar Tree and painted it with some waverly antique wax. Attach with hot glue.
Decorate your tree with some pom pom ribbon and buttons or get creative in your own way! I thought the pom pom ribbon looked like garland on a tree.
That’s all there is too it. I totally LOVE how this diy ribbon Christmas Tree turned out! Tell me what you think? Will you be making one for yourself and if so, what colors will you use?
