Dollar Tree Canvas Christmas Tree

I don’t know about you, but I love easy crafts that are easy on my wallet too. Especially, when it comes to Holiday decorations! If you decide to change up your style for the next year you don’t feel so bad because you didn’t break the bank. Who doesn’t love that, right?

This cute little Christmas canvas tree cost only a few bucks to make and will make the perfect addition to your Christmas decorating.

Supplies Needed:

Here’s what you will need:

  • Dollar Tree canvas
  • Wood piece for the trunk. ( I got a bag at the Dollar Tree)
  • Ribbon of your choice
  • Paint
  • Hot glue

I did a reverse canvas technique for this project. What you want to do is take a blade and cut off the canvas from the back of the of the frame. I find it easier leaving the staples in. Trust me, it depends on the canvas you get. Sometimes those staples come out easy and sometimes they don’t! I’ve decided that for my patience level to just leave those suckers right in!

Now what you are going to do is take the canvas that you just removed and glue it onto the back of the frame….right over the staples. When you flip it over you have a little framed canvas. Pretty easy, right?

Oops… I forgot to mention that I painted my frame before I glued the canvas back on. This is totally optional.

Next, I took my ribbon and cut it at different lengths to make the shape of a Christmas Tree and applied it with hot glue. I found this cute little pom pom ribbon at Hobby Lobby and swagged it down the tree. I thought it looked like garland. Cute, huh?

Now, I needed to create a hanger for the back. I grabbed some jute and this package of wood beads that I got from Hobby Lobby. They were $6.99 for the pack and I used my 40% off coupon… score! I just stringed them onto the jute and then hot glued them to the back.

So, there you have it! A super cute Christmas Tree sign that would look absolutely adorable in your home. What do you think?? Will you make one?

Please leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts. I would love it if you would SHARE it on FACEBOOK. That would make my heart happy!

PIN IT FOR LATER!!!!

As always…. Happy Creating!

  1. Do you still have the tutorial for the fall leaves tree? I tried to use the link that you posted in the last link and it says not available. Thanks so much in advance.
